Located in the heart of one of Athens’ liveliest urban quarters, on Thymarakia Square in Kato Patissia, the DOPE ROASTING CO. team chose to open its third store.
The new shop, a 30 m² ground-floor venue, sits in direct spatial and visual dialogue with the square. Here, as always, product quality remains uncompromised, but the space also needed to reflect the same design principles, aesthetic, and atmosphere as the previous two locations—without simply replicating them.
The result is a “pocket-sized” DOPE ROASTING CO. that remains true to the brand’s visual language, preserving the identity and atmosphere envisioned by its founders. Urban industrial culture and retro-inspired playfulness come together harmoniously within this compact space.
The double-height main space features a wraparound tile treatment in two tones. This, paired with a bold ochre-yellow storefront, curated lighting, and authentic vintage fixtures, sets the tone for the shop’s aesthetic and defines the central design narrative.
The two-tone tilework, natural wood, black detailing, and black metal custom features, as well as the paneled wooden façade, form the basis of the store’s design approach.
A key challenge was to create something fresh and original that still carried a clear connection to the brand’s other locations—without competing with them visually. The design approach, defined by intentional geometry and carefully chosen materiality, paired with timeless finishes, resulted in a cohesive hybrid identity faithful to the project’s core design intent.
